I began working with children in childcare facilities when I was just 16 years old.  Through high school, I joined a co-op class in which I was able to volunteer at a local preschool and learn how to teach.  Once I graduated I pursued child development in college, majoring in Early Childhood Education and minoring in Creative Arts.  I began working at 18 years old, as a teachers assistant, then teacher at small and large daycares throughout Michigan.

 

I moved to California in 1990 and finished my schooling with administration and supervision classes and finally I was directing centers, and filling them to capacity, hiring and training staff to help operate.

 

Throughout the 90's I worked in large corporate centers in a leadership role; I attended workshops, seminars and training conferences, learning about budgeting, operations, and state guidelines.

 

In the late 90's we started a family and interests changed to smaller scale-child care services.  I got licensed and began my at-home childcare business.  I  created My Place, Just for Kids Daycare in 2001 and have been operating successfully, ever since.
